Import from ASCII

If you are already using a school administration system and have all your students registered into that system you can transfer the required student data into WebSched.  You can also transfer your course names and numbers into WebSched.

The transfer process is simple. Under the School menu, choose Import from ASCII.  Then choose whether you are importing student data or course data. Name the ASCII file you have created, then Import.

WebSched will display the data that it has read. Check that the data is laid out correctly. THIS IS IMPORTANT.  WebSched will overwrite your existing file with whatever it reads.

Student Data
First you must convert your system’s student data into ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange).  The ASCII file should be tab-delimited with the following fields:
Student ID
First Name (required)
Middle Name
Last Name (required)
Gender
Birth Date
Grade
Homeform
External Number

The ASCII convention is that the first record contains the names of the fields contained in the remainder of the records, in the same sequence.

Course Data
Course Number
Course Name (required)

The ASCII convention is that the first record contains the names of the fields contained in the remainder of the records, in the same sequence.
