Setup Number of Sections
The first step in the process of creating your school’s master schedule is to calculate the number of sections required for each course. There are three methods in WebSched to calculate the number of sections required for each course. This menu is the easiest.
WebSched does this by dividing the number of course requests for the course by the class size designated for the course, and then rounding up.
If there are 88 students requesting the course and the
class size is 20, the number of sections is 5
class size is 22, the number of sections is 4
class size is 29, the number of sections is 4
class size is 30, the number of sections is 3
If the number of sections for a course is determined independent of number of students, then you should enter the number against the course after the automatic calculation.
You can also override the calculated figure in this setup number of sections routine. Simply enter your preferred figure in the New Sections column. You might choose to do this in the third example above (class size of 29). NOTE: this figure will be used only in the immediate run of the Course Master Builder. It will be overwritten by the next calculation of setup number of sections routine.
